Booking Your Charter
How do I book a charter with Hunter Charters?
Should I book my charter in advance?
We highly recommend you book your charter as far in advance as possible to ensure there is a boat available at the time you would like to go.
What happens if I have to cancel my charter?
Cancellations made four days before the date of your charter are subject to a 20% penalty charge. Less than four days notice the penalty charge is 50%. Less than 24 hours notice the penalty charge is the full cost of the charter. The credit card used to confirm your charter will be charged.
What happens in the event of bad weather?
Can you accommodate large groups?
Hunter Charters is one of the larger fishing charters serving Nassau and Paradise Island so we can accommodate fairly large groups with our fleet of four boats. With enough advance notice we can also arrange for other local captains to assist with your large group charter.
Are your Captains and crew licensed and trained?
Hunter Charters' Captains are fully licensed to operate our vessels in our inshore and offshore waters. Captains and first mates are all trained in first aid, fire, hygiene and boat safety.
On Charter Day
What time does my charter start?
Unless a special time was set, charter times are below. Please meet us at your pick up location at least fifteen minutes before your charter start time to get loaded up and ensure maximum time on the water.
- Half Day Morning (4hrs) 7am - 12pm
- Half Day Afternoon (4hrs) 1pm - 5pm
- Part Day (6hrs) 7am - 2pm
- Full Day (8hrs) 7am - 4pm
Where do we meet?
Unless other plans were made during your reservation, we have two convenient pick up locations. If you are staying at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island we will pick you up at the Paradise Island guest ferry terminal. If you are staying in Nassau or arriving on a cruise ship we will pick you up at the water front on Woodes Rodgers Walk behind the Bay St. Straw Market. See map below for exact pick up locations.
What is included with my charter?
- Clean and comfortable boats
- Experienced Bahamian Captain and courteous crew
- Well maintained Penn and Shimano fishing gear
- Fishing tackle and bait
- Fishing license for each guest
- Catch cleaning and filleting
- Ice cooler filled with ice and water
What should I bring?
- A good pair of polarized sunglasses
- Comfortable non skid shoes or sandals that can get wet
- Be prepared with a good wind breaker or light raingear
- Sunscreen and perhaps lip balm
- Brimmed or billed hat
- Snacks, food and drinks
- Beach towels
Are alcoholic beverages allowed?
Yes, alcoholic beverages are allowed. However for everyone’s safety, glass containers are not permitted - metal or plastic containers only please. We ask that everyone drinks responsibly.
After Your Charter
Can I get my fish cooked after my charter?
Yes and we highly recommend it for the full experience. We recommend you take your freshly caught and cleaned catch to Greek Islands Restaurant and Bar in Nassau after your charter.
Can I take the fish I catch home?
Yes. Up to eight pounds per person as per Bahamas Fishing Regulations. We will clean and package it for you but you will need to be able to keep it cold for the journey.
Can I have my catch mounted?
Yes. Hunter Charters works directly with Gray Taxidermy, the world's largest marine taxidermy company. Gray Taxidermy specializes in handcrafted custom fishmounts of all freshwater and saltwater fish species. In fact, the images of the fish on our what we fish for page are all replica mounts done by Gray Taxidery. If you are interested in getting your trophy mounted, talk to us.
